    Winchester M1917 S/N below 5000 - different markings

I've heard that M1917 from Winchester with a S/N below 5000 are only marked with US, W and the S/N of the rifle. Can someone confirm that (and maybe show a picture of such a rifle)?

    Thanks,

    Georg

I question that 5000 exist. Ones I have and have seen seem to top out under 4000 units.

    Chuck,

That is impressive. If you ever come across another one of those I'd like to have such a receiver. Guess your customer does not want to sell it?
