    No4 piling swivels?

Were any No4 rifles made and issued with piling swivels? I ask because I have owned/ seen many over the years and some had them and some did not. Also, is there a reference that specifically states that they did or did not come with them?
I am not referring to the rods that I understand were installed by the "Turks".
    Thanks in advance guys

I dare say that some might have been fitted for the initial trials on the original trials rifles but I can tell you with certainty that there was never a piling swivel ever issued or available for the production No4. By the start of series production, the notion of piled arms was a thing of the past. From the earliest non illustrated 1941 dated flimsy parts list to the last, a piling swivel wasn't an option - unless anyone knows differently.

I answered a similar question on another forum (pretty much the same answer)
Here's the link to the parts list supplied with the Q

Yep, that was me too 5thBatt. I am guessing tha maybe other countries that may have received No4s after WWII might have installed them because I have seen so many. When I was younger I watched as a case of No4s was opened fresh from the importer and everyone of them had piling swivels. In fact someone at the "Army/Navy surplus store actually made a stack for disply, that's how I remember.
Anyway, I believe you guys and have removed them from mine.
They were on a 1942 Longbranch and a 1944 Longbranch.
Thanks for all of the help guys.

Thank you sir. It just seemed odd that I have seen so many with them. I shall remove them from the 2 that I have with them.

If they are trials rifles then there will be someone on the forum who has a photo of one with said piling swivel. But if yours are just bog standard No4's then off they come.

    Since you insist:

They're not GOOD photos, but Badger ought to be able point to you to the MKLicon entry.

That trials rifle really needs to have some more detail photos done.

And I don't think Peter Laidlericon was referring to photos of bog standard No.4s in his post.

But here's a slightly OT but related question: Were there ANY Long Branch rifles even rumored to have factory installed piling swivels? Never heard of it, but...
