    Clarification regarding the STG44

Need some clarification regarding the STG44. The gas cylinder cap incorporates a short rod with a ball end. Is it used for stacking of arms or does it have another function?

There is a tool in the buttstock trap that is used to unscrew the gas cup, the rod is an extension of the gas cup, never heard of it being used to stack weapons

Yes the gas seal tool is retained in the stock trap. The extended rod section of the gas seal ( gas nut ) is what is in question.
