    Early receivers

Early receivers without the 7th round correction or "low guide ribs" are often difficult to find and the best choice for a gas trap restoration. Both of these two receivers are in the early 40 thousand serial range. There is a special interest among a few collectors in the "extra wide rib" receivers, not many have been located and most have had the correction to the guide ribs.

The photos show one of the receivers (with the white chamber flag) with the low extra wide guide rib and the other receiver with the normal production (at that time period) low guide rib.

On the two receiver photos showing the production low guide ribs and the rebuilt low guide ribs, that receiver with the low guide ribs and extra narrow rib is another variation to the other low guide rib production receivers. I use to think that the extra narrow rib was only found in revision 2 receivers until I saw s/n 49797 which is a revision 1 receiver with the extra narrow rib and low guide ribs. Also saw a photo of s/n 49155 revision 1 also with low guide ribs but repaired and also manufactured without the extra narrow rib. You can find revision 2 receivers with lower serial numbers in the 43xxx and 44xxx range too.

I realize this is an old thread but the information stated on receiver 49155 is incorrect.

Correct, I made an error and confused two early receivers: 49155 revision 1 has the manufactured low guide ribs and without any repairs
