    Exclamation Jap Takedown Type 99

Hi this is my first post on this Forum, and i need some info on this Arisakaicon Takedown
i only have owned this rifle for 12Hours and had to leave to come here to florida for a couple of months so i just oiled it up threw it in the safe and left, BUT my question is
are not ALL type 99s suposed to have a CROME BORE ??the rifle was found in a barn
in Mass and evidently its been in there for 60+ years alot of surfice rust "light" but my
concern is i could hardly se through the bore it looks like someone shot blanks through
it and never cleaned it?? but i have not had time to run a brush through it, i hope the
bore cleans up cause it has the MUM/DustCover/airCraft leads ! and i think the outside should cleanup fairly good i understand its a paratrooper model? i didn,t know the Japs
    had Paratroopers??
I Would appreciate any Info. thanks Sheriff Dudley

I would think it is chrome lined. I think the chrome lining was dropped as the war churned on and into the last ditch models.

    SD,
Quick and dirty statement stolen from Wikipedia, which sums it up nicely:
"The Type 99 was produced in four versions, the regular issue Type 99 Short Rifle, the Type 99 Long Rifle (a limited production variant), takedown Type 2 Paratroop Rifle, and the Sniper Rifle Type 99. The standard rifle also came with a wire monopod and an anti-aircraft sighting device. The Type 99 was the first mass-produced infantry rifle to have a chrome-lined bore to ease cleaning. All of these features were abandoned by the middle of the Second World War."
I am sure experts can nail it down more specifically.

And yes, the Japaneseicon did have paratroopers...
Another quick and dirty statement stolen from Wikipedia: Japanese marine paratroopers of World War II - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
So congrats on your rifle! We look forward to pictures.
I am sure the experts will weigh in with comments that are more helpful. I have never held one, and have only seen a few.
