    Mosin Nagant

I've got a 1943 Russianicon Mosin Nagant with a laminated stock. I've been told this would not be the original stock for this rifle. Is this correct? Thanks

Depends what you want "correct" to be. Is it the original stock, probably not. But it is a correct stock. Most of these went through a refurbishment process after WWII. They were stripped down, refinished, re-blued, and put back together as a "new" rifle. Many of the older style wood stocks were replaced at this time by the laminated stocks. You can find hex receiver variations in the laminated stocks. Some sources do say that the laminated stock usage began toward the end of WWII, others say late 40's. In either case, they are less common than the standard stock rifles. If the rifle has been refurbished, there will be a small square with a line going from side to side of the square on the metal, usually on the receiver. The stock may have a square with a corner to corner line through it but these are often faint as they were sometimes sanded after it was applied. A 1943 stock would more than likely be a solid wood stock with no metal guides in the sling holes.

    Thanks

The receiver and stock does have the boxes you described. The serial numbers all match but the serial number on the bolt looks like it was ecthed with an engraving pen. Thank you.
