    Question 1942 Long Branch No.4 MK I*

    Hey everyone,
I'm new to the Lee Enfields and new to this forum, so please be patient with me.

    We have a 1942 Long Branch #4 MK I* C Mark 1 sight
    SN: 3L353
Barrel, buttstock and bolt numbers are matching.
Steel buttplate with M 14 marking on the inside.

Couldn't find any markings on the stock, my son things the stock is a conversion to a sportsmen gun?

There are other markings on top of the barrel/receiver. Like a star (receiver), S on the bottom side of the receiver, U on the barrel, can't really make the other markings out too good because they are so small.

Based on that, what do these markings tell me and which other markings should I be looking for?

Thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it and we learn something new about a gun we had already since a long time in the safe!!
