    NOS Winchester Garand Gas Cylinder

Picked this up the other day and thought I would post pics if anyone is interested
Cylinder was sealed in foil wrap inside paper cover
    Manufactured in 1945
I have read there were two different type finishes WRA used on their cylinders, Dilute and copper vapor plated and blackened . Would this be the blackened type finish?

Orlando, I suspect it to be a counterfeit. It does not have the characteristic sharp ledge below the front sight base nor the grind mark on the top of the rear ring.

I have seen WRA cylinders with a smooth ring, no grind marks but the sharp ledge does concern me

As I stated to Orlando, my opinion is this is legit. I checked the ordance contract and it was legit.

As I stated Winchester might not have been the maker. The contract was run by Olin Industries, the owner of Winchester. The contract might have been sub contracted to another company and Winchester might have had the responsibility for inspection.

I sent the cylinder to Charlie Redfield to inspect
Here is a shortened version of what he wrote back:

"The Cylinder is correct of late vintage Winchester, nice blue finish. Winchester iron plated all of their cylinders then Dulited them." The packaging is also correct and original"
