Carbine Stock ( help ) NEEDED

The Carbine stock ( Stock only ) has TN in the sling well ( no other markings in sling well ) on the pistol grip has a U but I think it is a lightly struck O. Then on the left side of stock has the s/n stamped and the numbers are painted white. Next to the numbers looks like a funny U and a lot of funny scratch marks. The stock is beat up quite a bit.
I was wondering if mite be a Korean mfg. stock.
I am trying to find a NPM stock with out giving up a arm or leg for one.
All help will be appreciated.

Dick, the TN in the slingwell is Trimble made for NPM. It should have TRIMBLE stamped above the TN. Sometimes it is very faint and hard to make out. If what you see on the grip is a very small O or other small numbers or letters, it was in Israel at one time. Does the funny looking U look like this .U. If so it went through a rebuild after WW2 at Underwood.

Dick, thanks that helps. This is what I see, others may add. Pic one shows the holes from a grenade launcher sight and some srimshaw. Pic two is the Underwood post war rebuild stamp. Pic three is new to me, not like the Israeli stamps I have seen. The serial number stamped on the left near the slingwell is consistant with the IDF carbines. How about a full serial number and a pic of the slingwell.

Dick, That s/n on the left side matches the s/n of the action that was in the stock while it was in Israel. The stamp on the pistol grip looks similar to that on my "Israeli" stock. My stock is on an IBM action and the s/n matches with the number on the stock, but I believe it was originally on a Standard Products carbine. Mine has a stamp showing that the carbine went through a rebuild at Standard Products. Here's a couple pictures to compare with yours. - Bob

The stock did come from Israel and the serial number is for a National Postal Meter.

Dick, I can almost make out the TRIMBLE in the slingwell. I think a good cleaning with either DNA or acitone and a soft toothbrush, then re-oil will do wonders for that stock. If you don't like the serial number a mag pouch should cover it. Anything left of the cartouch on the right side? $54.00 isn't bad for a decent stock untill the right one comes along. If you don't feel confident on refinishing/fixing the stock send me a P.M.

No sign of the boxed NPM- FJA ?
It may take a strip, or wood bleach to see if a stamp is left.
Remember Trimble sent stocks to NPM, SG and Inland, that I know of, maybe a couple others.
