    SCW mosin?

I picked this up originally thinking it was Finnishicon origin but after some research I believe I stumbled across a SCW Mosin. 1936 Tula, no import mark, blade front sight and wired sling hangers. Any opinions?

Certainly looks like a possible SCW to me. The only thing that kind of throws me would be the varnished stock, as most I've encountered were sanded. I just sold an SCW Tula Dragoon recently, wire hangers and all. Wish that I'd kept it! As for the no import marks, in my opinion, that's always a plus. My Tula had none either. There are some SCW 91/30s that bear early import markings of 'Made in the U.S.icon' or 'RSSU'. Apparently these were some of the first Mosin Nagants even imported into the U.S.
Anyway, great find. I like it!

Oh, and btw, the Spanish Civil War took place between 1936 and 1939, so yours definitely falls in place there.

I think I remember reading somewhere someones guess but I cant remember, I dont think anyone knows for certain, except the Russians!
As far as the "extra laquer", or what have you, I was told from my local dealer where I bought this, and several other guns from an estate, that the previous owner was adamint about protecting his wood stocks and applied it to all of them.
    From him I purchased:
    1) SCW mosin nagant
    2) Nagant revoler (supprisingly no clear coat on grips )
    3) Czechicon cz-52 (pistol)
    4) Czech vz-52 (rifle, original 7.62x45)
    5) Chinese type 53
    6) Frenchicon MAS 36
    7) MAS 49/56
    8) M1icon carbine Underwood M2 stock which is real grainy and most of the laquer soaked in I guess, it's hardly noticable. I have pics of the VZ-52 in another thread but I've been meaning to post all the other ones too.
So many guns, so little time!

(dont know how to edit post from phone) Thanks for the info Anzac15, and the stock was definately sanded. Sommeday I might try to remove the varnish with stripper, no sanding though.
