    What is it?

    There's also some very faint writing cut into one of the wood grips. I can't make it out. I will try to get a picture of it with a better camera.

    Looks like an Indian bayonet for a no1 Mk 3.

    Possibly what they call the "jungle bayonet" but not for the Jungle carbine. Shorter version for the Mk III as stated above.

    These bayonets are commonly referred to as "Indian Pattern".

    this is a MkII (* if it has a flase edge) Indian bayonet, the MkIII has a much squarer pommel
