First time out shooting the Remington M1917

Took a group of friends out shooting today and had to take the new to me Remington M1917. My first attempts with old surplus 06 ammo was pretty impressive for me with open sights. My eyes are not as good as they used to be,

I believe that may be Alvin York's 1917.

I was very impressed with that gun yesterday! A real pleasure to shoot and with old 1950's surplus ammo that I figured would be less than ideal. The sights are my favorite of all my milsurps, must be the extra long sight radius.

This was the target from the very first 5 rounds I fired. The one at 6 o'clock was where I held on the very first shot because I had read so much negative stuff about how the guns shoot and how the non adjustable sights were junk. I think what I read was a bunch of bull or I have an exceptional rifle.

Super shooting! But let an optician check if you have some astigmatism in the aiming eye.

Had 20/18 vision when I retired from the Army in 2002 with 22 years in, guess all that shooting kinda paid off. That and growing up in rural West Virginia, LOL!!
