    Another Buttplate Question....

Being pretty much a no0b to the M1icon Carbine world, reading the buttplate ID post recently made me wonder if my 1944 Inland was "correct" in that aspect. Pretty much everything else is good to go....what about it's buttplate? Is it as it should be for a '44 Inland?
    Any info much appreciated!

Quick look, looks like mid-late Inland.
But there are many better schooled about BP's than I.

I'll second what Charlie says. I must have three or more late Winchester BP's that I bought thinking they were late Inlands. It's all in how even the diamonds (dots) are squished around that circle in the center. That and whether you think there are 2 or 4 diamonds in the bottom row. Sometimes it's hard to tell whether there are partial diamonds on the ends of the row. The last one, I hand picked at a gun show and when I got home, it turned out to be another Winchester! Got to get out of here early tonight, been called a 'Nite Owl" by some on the forum. - Bob
