    Gi Stell Helmet found today

Harlan, today I picked up a GI steel helmet with liner, web netting like I used to see on WWII helmets over the steel pot, lining has para chin strap, etc. Its missing the metal "A" catch? and doesnn't have a leather sweat band. Otherwise its in nice condition. The inside on the band is hard to read but beginning with the top line..which is clear...it says:

    Liner, Soldiers steel helmet
    (then a longish word unintelligible)
TYPE II (then large numeral) 4
(another word U/I...maybe AGE on end?)
followed by another U/I word then "64F"

Can you shed any light on this ? I'm assuming its a VN era helmet? Any idea where I might find the A catch and sweat band? I have some pics I can email but can't locate them using the "manage" box below....I'm not too swift with this stuff...sorry.

    Thanks.

Thanks for ref. Found that one thing mine needs is the hook that goes on the buckle...not what I called an "A" catch above. Don't know diddly about helmets but saw this one at an antique bike show today at Denton NC for $35 and could tell it was real and not repro. Need to find someone I can send pics to for more precise ident since I can't figure how to post them here. If anyone is willing to take a look, PM me with an email addee and I'll send some pics. Haven't quite figured how to get the liner hooks off the swivels so I can take a better look at the two parts.

This is the jumper we're talking about on the other thread? In which case I'm looking for a strap.
    Regards, Jim
