Building a Win 5.78m receiver. Correct rear sight?

I have a 5.78 Win receiver with a stamped rear sight marked IRCO 7160060. Is this incorrect for the receiver? I have spare sights: stamped IRCO with no number and milled with H in shield.

Anybody? Here's a pic of the staking. I'm not sure this was the original sight on this receiver by looking at the staking. I'd also like to know which barrel would be correct. I'm not sure if the intermediate or the later proofing location is proper. If I was to guess, I'd go with intermediate. Opinions?

Mine has a type II Hemphill ("H" in a shield).

Tenoc, Take a look at NL# 237 p.8. There appears to have been a all style mixed usage from 5.689 to the end. John

Thanks. I still have to order those back issues.
I was wondering of the 716xxxx numbering indicated it was a replacement during an armory rebuild. Being a buildup project, I think I'll change it to something with the H in shield.
I have 3 barrels to choose from in proof stamping. One doesn't match in color atall.

I used to think the numbered type III was a replacement but Brian Quick pointed out that they were actually original to WWII carbines. You may want to rethink replacing it until you have researched it with the CNLs as John42768 suggested and even then you may choose to leave it as is.

You're right. I'll leave it as is and look to the new letters as previously suggested.

I do hope that particular sight is correct for that serial number Winchester. My 5.76 rifle has the same exact sight on it and the staking looks good in my humble opinion. I do hope so more info comes to light in this thread. Also, someone else asking this question stops me from doing another thread...Thanks 10!
