    Enfield Butt Plate Question

    Greetings,

A quick question for those who collect Enfield Riflesicon. Is it possible to use a No. 1, Mk III butt plate on a No.4, Mk i Enfield or are the stocks just too different to make that type of exchange?

    Thanks.

    Gary

They can interchange but either way, you'll need to slightly alter the configuration of the wood. It was an approved method of repair to use a No4 butt on a No1 rifle. And incidentally, to use a No4 butt plates (and sling loop assemblies) on Lanchester sub-machine guns
