    Lee-Enfield carrying case

Browsing Gunbroker, I happened across this item:

Britishicon Lee Enfield Canvas Case : Collectible Gun Parts & Accessories at GunBroker.com

How common were these items in actual use? I've never seen a picture (wartime or otherwise) depicting this case being used.

They are also the latest lot of repro's being made in India. The quality of the webbing looks repro to me, but all the ones I have are Canadianicon and in some items the Canadian webbing is of much better quality than UKicon issue.

I second that! It looks like Indian jute sacking.

I guess I need to get out more, that's the first repro of a soft case I've seen. I have a few old ones I use to transport rifles to and from the range.

Has anyone worked out what the large pocket in the originals was for. It was far too big for a cleaning kit....... I always thought that maybe a tent and a groundsheet would fit!

I was always told it was for the breech cover. And why do some of them have hooks for a sling and some don´t?
