    He is probably an instructor demonstrating for the camera. I think I've seen this same guy in a number of Marine period photos.

    The poor guy who had to hump that BAR over the obstacles! They should have given it to the big guy in the lower right corner.

    In reply to a previous qustion of mine concerning a friend's (very small in stature) father being issued a BAR in Korea. It was pointed out to me that the smaller man made a smaller target for a weapon that would draw more fire. Makes perfect sence to be and seems to be born out by many photos I have seen with shorter/smaller guys with the beast BAR.
