    What is the commerical equivalent of XG-279?

    Def Stan 91-27/2
    Penetration, worked 265-295
    Dropping point (min) 130C
    General purpose lubricant for automotive and artillery applications, operated over the range of minus 54C to plus 105C


    Bearing grease:
    Joint Service Designation: XG-279

    Commercial equivalent: LITHIUM GREASE N.L.G.I. No 2

    Looks like you answered your own question to me. There is a US military equivalent. It's not cosmolineicon. I'll have to dig out my can of it and read the print.

    That's what your research says. The NATO code is the same. I'll comment later if I can find my can of US military stuff.
