    Odd body

Picked up recently in a parts box: LE MkI body, dated 1903 but with VR cypher. Seemed a bit odd as she died in 1901. Later made into .22 and with SA ownership marks.

Can't find the photos at the moment.

Is there a T in the serial number? Sounds like it might be a native made receiver.

No there isn't and it's got lots of the right inspection stamps, so it's not a NW Frontier job.

It's a bit like cap badges. Once the reigning king dies, it's a few years before all of the cap badges change. I had a brass kings crown cap badge when I was an apprentice in 1963 and so did others. As for greatcoat buttons, I think that they were ALL the kings crown so two years won't have made a lot of difference. Just a thought
