Type 44 with 2 serials numbers on receiver.

Recently picked up a type 44 with 2 different sn# on receiver. Sn# 34120 on left side of receiver. On bottom of receiver Sn#13735. All parts on carbine matches the Sn# on bottom of receiver Sn#13735. All parts of the carbine has Sn# 13735 including the stock and upper hand guard. Only part couldn't find Sn# was bullet follower and bolt stop which has a S stamped on the end. The mun has been ground. Any info would be apperciated. Lee

The Serial number is the number on the left side of the receiver. The second "serial" number is the build number and that is why all the parts match it and not the serial number on the left side.

Later production rifles of the T38 class and the T99 Arisakas dispensed with the build number and used the serial number for parts matching.
