    First post here.

Just made the jump and bought an ishvesk M91/30 "sniper' rifle from Classic firearms and a standard M1icon/30 also. to add to these two I'll buy a couple more to fill up a few slots on my wall (when I get the wall). I have already planned to add an M44. Assuming I have another 3 slots to fill thereafter (and not deep pockets necessarily), what other Mosin fun items should I buy.

The 91/30's have quite a few major variants.

    Laminate stock
    Hex receiver
    Round receiver pre-war (nice finish)
Round receiver WWII production (rough finish)

Then there are the two major arsenals: Tula, Izhevsk and one from way back: Sestroryetsk but these are probably about impossible to find. Then there are the ones produced in the US Remington and New Englandicon Westinghouse.

    There's also the M38.

Lots of different things, I think I have 6 now but I've cooled off as I have all the major variants I'm after with the exception of a nice US made one and a Finn.

The Finnishicon M39 is a great one to have. Outstanding rifle with an excellent trigger and is very accurate. Best buy for under $300, IMO. The Finnish made M91/30s are also very nice and fairly rare (around 5000?). Many of them you come across are in excellent like new condition as many of them were not issued for service. You can still pick them up for under $300, which considering the rareity, condition, and quality, seems like a bargian!

    Top M91/30, Bottom M39

It's a '42 VKT. Still has the original finish on the metal and the original war time stock. It has quite a few handling marks and the metal finish is somewhat worn (character!), but it's one of the most accurate rifles in my collection.

The figure on the arctic birch stock is very nice on this one...

I have read the accuracy is outstanding. M39 is near the top of my to do list. I have never seen one at a local gun show so I may have to break down and order one.
