Help Wanted to ID a No 4 Mk 1

    Hi,
I'm away from home at the moment so can't get to my books. Our club rifle 'Slack Alice' has just been refurbed but I'd like to know more about it. It is marked:-
Left Side of Receiver: No 4 Mk1 ROF (F) 7/44. Does that just mean a Mk 1 Royal Ordnace Fazakerly July 1944 or is that too simple? It is ROF NOT POFicon!
The number is electro pencilled NC 26917
The Cocking Piece is marked 1956 M47/c
The Magazine Follower has an S in a square (Savage?)
The bolt has a 'Square C with rhe letters PF inside it and is numbered 34140

    So your ideas please!
    Thanks

Apart from it being "Ordnance", yes.

BTW, I'm sure you know the original "Slack Alice" was?

Thanks for the spelling correction and info. Has anyone any ideas about the markings on the bolt?

"Royal Ordnance Factory" is what it stands for I believe.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    Edward Bernays, 1928

Much changes, much remains the same.
