Possibly purchasing a Rand? Need advice!

Hey guys, I was looking to buy an m1911 rand. There's a problem though. Supposedly everything matches up but the vet that the guy got the gun from did two things...
    1. He changed the grips.
    2. He changed the sights.

Can I restore this gun to its original condition?

He is looking to get 600 out of it. Is this worth the hassel?

The grips are easy. Without pictures it would be impossible to tell about the sights. Chances are the slide was modified to accept the new sights, and possibly the front sight was soldered to the slide. Pistol is probably worth the $600, but not if you want an original 1911A1.

If I bought a rand slide would that restore its value?

There are three different Remington Rand slide types, so the slide would have to match the serial number range of the pistol. You would then need to find a slide that matched the condition of the receiver. Much better to just wait and buy a correct pistol than buy something you may not be able to match up satisfactorily.
