    I had never seen such a thing, till I purchased a copy of QBQ (Chinese Small Arms Magazine). Its actually where most of the photo's I posted above were scanned from, it appears there is not much on the internet about them.

    I am under the impression that they were a blank firing training implement for use by the "enemy" while soldiers did infantry training.

    I believe it shoots a hollow wooden " bullet " . The bore pic. shows the four " chopping wedges " that split the bullet into four " slivers " so they don't travel far .
