Gluing a .22 conversion into a DP 1941 Lithgow?

As the title says I have a 1941 Lithgow that is a DP'd rifle. I bought a .22 lr conversion from Numrich for it and it is quite fun to shoot and gives the rifle a life other than as a wall hanger. I would like to glue the liner in to make it permanent so that I can get rid of the nut that keeps loosening cut off the threads and crown it this would also have the added benefit of making it imposable to fire .303 rounds through it. I was wondering what adhesive would work best.

Epoxy. Good quality slow cure stuff, NOT araldite or 5 minute stuff. Read the directions, curing temperature range and ratios in particular.

The glass bedding epoxies work well if you already have them.

The old timers used to soft solder them in, but all of them that are still about now use epoxy! Glas Bed, Steelbed, Marine Tex, what have you.

Brownell's probably has a tutorial or some other recommendations on their site, somewhere. Or in one of the Gunsink Kinks books. Bit it's not that big a deal.

3M panel bond..used in the auto body world...drill and tappable, your quater panels, and roof are held on with this stuff on 1995 and new GM,s.

I have some Marine Tex I got to actualy use on a boat imagine that lol. Guess I'll give that a try.
The 3M Panel Bond sounds intriguing. Why doesn't it surprise me that GM glues their vehicles together.

all cars are glued together now. cheaper, stronger, and easier to replace.

The new bridge over the Kennebec River in Bath Maine is glued together and I'm sure others as well.
As for the glue being stronger than spot welds I think bubble gum is stronger than spot welds in sheet metal so thats not hard to believe.

I have used Brownell's accura glass bedding to glue a half inch diameter 22 rim fire barrel in a Remington rolling block barrel that was bored-out. Also turned some shallow rings on the liner too. Did it twice and almost 15 years now and still works
