I recently de-grunged the stock on my Underwood. After the cleanup I have noticed the wood grain seems much finer than the grain in my other carbines. Not as fine as birch, but definitely finer than walnut. The wood is also reddish, rather than brown, with a pleasing striped grain. Did Pedersen/Underwood ever use cherry as a substitute wood? It's a high wood oval cut stock marked P-U in the slingwell. Sorry, but my camera just won't pick up the difference.Information
