    Late K31

As those of you who know me are aware, I have a thing for Swissicon rifles (and most others to boot), especially late K31's, and any of the older long rifles.

Over the weekend, I again succumbed to my addiction and bought a late model K31 (240xxx). This one has a nice looking stock, which I thought was walnut, but now believe may be beech

    Description advised as follows:

Swiss Schmidt-Rubin Karabiner Model 1931 (K31) Straight-Pull Rifle, #240xxx, 7.5x55mm Swiss, 25.7'' barrel, blue finish, European walnut stock, with leather sling. Lightly import marked. Condition is fine to near excellent retaining approx. 96% blue on receiver. Stock shows minor dings, scratches, thinning to finish, and light oil staining. Action is crisp, bore is bright.

Thanks, these Swissicon rifles are some of the most accurate military surplus rifles, imo. You won't be sorry.

Yeah, I'm not good at identifying wood. Most people who are agree with you...beech.

    Thanks, Ara

I have to agree with not being sorry with getting one. I don't shoot a lot but these are extremely fun rifles to shoot and if any is going to get me out of my frugal habits, this series of rifles is it.

I shot my K31icon once and decided I had to get a K11. Got that and decided I needed a 1911. I wanted to shoot my 1911 this past weekend but it doesn't fit in my gun case so I took the K11 instead. Never fired it before and shot a 2 1/4" 5 shot group. It was as fun as the K31.

My 1911 has a light colored walnut stock but even it is a good deal darker than this one. The K31 and K11 both have dark walnut stocks.

My sons and I shoot the K31icon and 1911 rifles in various "as issued" vintage military matches out to 800 yards and have been entirely satisfied with their performance. At the last match my son shot a 93-2x at 800 yards with his K31.

I have one nearly identical to yours, I believe it was a range rifle because it has a brilliat trigger{even much better than my other K31icon} and when I got it, it had a sticker on it that read "Shutzenfest".
I use it a lot in our rapid fire service rifle matches......which it normally blitzes......and amazes all those looking on.
