I for one never got to the bottom of the larger/small aperture battle sight. The same applied to the No4 backsights. From the purely practical point of view, then the large aperture was far better for use in the dark jungle environment. Can you enlighten us on this Nigel/Ensci?

There's also the different lengths of thread on the adjustment screw too. Short length (as in 3rd rifle) for No5 and long thread length (1st rifle) interchangeable between both No4 and 5
