    When you own a new M1911A1

    What's your habit when you get a 1911 or A1, do you dismantle it completely, clean it, and put fresh oil and grease, or as a collector leave it as you found it.

    I detail strip the pistol, clean and oil every part, and reassemble it. Who knows what may be lurking inside.

    That's what I do too... It's just interesting to know the way collectors cares their Guns.

    I've got one that was never fired and I had to promise I wouldn't shoot it. So I'm afraid to disassemble it because I might put an idiot scratch on it.

    You're right too, but as in my country It's an impossible dream to find a 1911A1 NIB, so...
