    marlin carbine bbl

I just bought a 144 thousand serial # Inland, with a marlin BBL. i didn't know marlin made carbine bbls. Any info? The gun came with a bando of Korean ammo in 10 round strippers, I think the headstamp is WNM - 67. Is this OK stuff? Thanks

Yes, Marlin made barrels for the Govt under contract in WWII. Whether it's correct to be on an inland, I have no clue. May be. Or maybe part of a arsenal overhaul.

    Got pics?

Inland made their own barrels and did not use Marlin barrels. Marlin had a contract to make cabine barrels to be used in the government free issue barrel program. Many Marlin barrels were rejected by the carbine makers that received barrels from the program. But if a Marlin barrel passed inspection it was used and preformed as well as most others. Your barrel was changed during it's rebuild.

If the ammo is Korean made then it's really good ammo but I cannot place the WNM headstamp other then it is not made in the US. I want to say maybe made in the Netherlands or made in Germanyicon for them.

Thanks, I know that the carbine is a rebuild, just never saw a marlin bbl on one before. I know they made replacement garand bbls. I bought the carbine today, probably paid alittle too much, but it had a really nice P-J marked tiger striped stock that I couldn't refuse. $600. Maybe I just bought it too soon, but $600 carbines afre pretty rare in SE Pa.

Seems like a decent price if it's all there.

A while back I had an Underwood or NPM mixmaster with a Marlin barrel. It was a very good shooter, but they have been making barrels since the 18702 (Ballard then Marlin in 1881), so I think they have it down.
