    Arsenal

About M1911A1 a lot of them has been refurbished or repaired on different Arsenal, wearing most of time AA AN RIA SA RA . Do we know or do we have an idea about the ratio for the five manufacturer which has been in Arsenal.
Do you think the collector value is affected if the pistol having that kind of marking?
I mean if the gun does not have a mixed frame / slide.

By the nature of a rebuild, chances are a rebuild will not have a matching slide. It appears that when most of the Model 1911 pistols were being rebuilt there was an effort to put 1911 parts back on them, such as not putting a 1911A1 trigger on 1911 receiver. Even if the slide was a 1911 slide, it may not be the correct 1911 slide. Just my opinion, but on a documented rebuild the presence or lack of a rebuild mark doesn't necessarily make any difference. In the case of the Anniston rebuilds, I find their extensive and crude markings take away from the pistol.

I've noticed on Gun Broker several 1911A1 with the Arsenal markings AA, SA etc... not selling because buyers know they are rebuilds and won't pay top dollar for them. I did bid on one and missed out on the winning bid cause I was at work and it ended before I could get to my car and my phone. It was a nice rework and went for under $800 which was a fair price. I'm glad collectors(buyers) are getting smarter and informed which keeps you from spending too much.
For all you members, $30(price subject to inflation) makes you a contributing member. I think this great site is worth it.
