Decided to take the Inland to work with me today to do a function check and see where the fixed sights were set. By the time I got up the hill to a spot in the mountains where I could shoot, it was dusk (in fact within 20 minutes of shooting it was black!) Put up the targets at 25 measured yards, and leaned across the hood of the patrol Jeep ( a nice 4 door Wrangler) for a casual rest.
Shot the Remington 110 JSPs group first, and was pleasantly surprised, with two shots in one hole. Then I did a 5 shot group of Remington 110 FMJs, and was equally pleased. The FMJ group was a little bigger, but it was seriously getting dark by then, so I am happy. Talk about the fixed sights being where they should be. It would be nice to see what I could do in daylight conditions from a real rest.
I shot one 30 round magazine of the FMJs, shooting off hand at 30-40 yards "bouncing the can" in low light conditions, to see if it liked the 30 rounders. It did. Zero malfunctions, though I put a late model M2 mag catch on. I will also put a flip safety on, as it is better for my purposes getting in and dismounting a vehicle. DANG I love these little carbines! I shot it so much more naturally than an AR!
