    Might it be french possibly?

    It appears close to an MP 40 I agree, but something just doesn't seem right about where the barrel meets the receiver for this to be the case. (I fully admit, I might be very wrong on this. haha)

    Defo a Hotchkiss universal, it has a bit of a party trick in that the mag and the stock fold into a pretty tight para trooper gun.
