Russian Sniper - Lidiya Gudovantseva (Period Video Interview)
Regards,
Doug
And you guys remember the extensive threads we've had about this very thing. Not that I would condone my troops doing this sort of thing because it can lead to problems, but a certain amount of weapons swapping or pilfering is just the nature of things. Pistols for instance...

I don't know how big a deal it was or the exact details but that's how my g/f got his carbine.

Some pictures of Germans with captured M1Carbines. Been posted before, but some may not have seen them:
Years ago, I read a memoir or interview with a GermanWehrmacht "Landser" who carried a captured carbine during the war. He preferred it to the MP40 and the K-98. After all, it was good enough for my dad and Audie Murphy....

I think it's interesting that the fellow in the OP video made it all the way to the Eastern Front with that carbine
Some of the clips are stock footage and may or may not be filmed in the aforementioned theater of operation. That footage may have been in Normandy or Italyfor all we know. The film makers just splice footage together hoping no one will notice the P51D in the Invasion of Brittan footage or a German
soldier in the Invasion of Poland carrying an MP44. As good as these films are there are bound to be mistakes
Hey, anything is possible though. He may have made it to Russia
with that carbine.

"We're surrounded, that simplifies our problem!"
Doh! I hadn't thought of that. Though it'd certainly be intriguing if he had made it all the way to Russiawith it

It would be hard to demand ammo through an already strained supply system for an odd cartridge. Remember, they already had problems with just their handguns...about 30 different pistols of several different calibers. I man demanding 30 carbine...?
