    LB #4 markings

Can someone tell me what the markings are/mean in the photos? The * is on the left side of a butt socket and the wood is the extreme front end.

    Thanks!

Is the mark on the butt socket a Cdn. sale mark? Brit. mark is broadarrows point to point, this looks like that inside the "C". The mark on the forend looks to be a C/l\ property mark.

I have seen the C* on a few and I think it must be a disposal mark of some sort but I don't know for sure.

I wouldn't be surprised if the mark was placed on No. 4s released to DCRA/PRA members for target shooting. I remember a chap who bought one from the COD in Montreal in 1962, for $45, if my memory has not failed me.
