    Gas trap garand

I can't seem to find it, but someone posted about trying to build a gas trap garand and wanted us to keep an eye out for parts. A guy on eBay (snook6869) that I buy from has been listing some pieces for a gas trap garand, just a heads up.

    WRA Gas Trap?

Over 30 years ago I bought a GT barrel from Burt Kellerstedt for $100 -- the drawing number on top includes WRA. It looks renumbered to me. We know Winchester didn't make Gas Traps, so I always thought it was a fake. On the other hand, maybe they made some pre-production barrels before the contract was changed? Is it possible? I still think it's fake. At that time regular barrels sold for about $20.

    WRA Gas Trap

Bob, I would agree its probably renumbered. But I would think with you hands on knowledge you could tell the small signs of faking. With that said was it you that had a preproduction WRA receiver with 00 as the serial number? If they were following SA id have to say at least one gas trap wra barrel would have been produced. Look at the many shared parts, I think RCS or Bodyman pointed out that the earliest WRA safety was confused with SA, because they didnt add WRA to the -4. Or how WRA no trap plates follow the early SA checkering. Now lets see a WRA mark gas trap cylinder, what type would they have used? Copy the type 1 cylinder, or would they have used the later type 3 that was in use when they started preproduction. Just my thoughts. Kevin
