Reblued and wrong barrel date.

I agree-- definitely reblued. High polish and Serial number is partially buffed away. It really looks pretty nice but it is not a high grade collector rifle. Stock looks good (maybe too good?) I don't see a cartouche or inspection marks though. Being a low number, it is not desirable as a shooter. So-- not a great collector gun and not a great shooter. I would pass on it. Salt Flat

Rear swivel also looks somewhat strange, isn't that one from an Enfield?

Also looks like a M1917 stacking swivel and front sling swivel
There is something funny about the hand guard and the stock, but I can't put my finger on it….

Definitely a Frankenrifle.....

Dad-- Good call on the front band ! I looked right at it and it didn't register as 1917 until I read your post. I've missed things like that when buying a rifle before. You get so focused on one aspect or another of the piece that you miss something obvious. Good lesson!

The handguard has no clips! Aftermarket. The stock looks like an original, but the grooves are not right, maybe sanded? And it is to fat at the top of the buttplate, maybe a fake? Definitely raises some red flags.

Since I was doing research on Eddystone M1917s at the time it was an easy call.
The fact that they got that front barrel band on that stock makes me wonder what else they kludged.....
This Forum is a great learning source! Lost count of the times it has saved me from bad, expensive mistakes.

It may be some version of a Bannerman or Sedgely rifle. Some of the characteristics listed above would fit.
