i have an m1 carbine that Audie Murphy gifted to me when i was in diapers, i even have the paper work coming out of my printer now to prove it
Hey I believe this is legit. The rifle belonged to AM not carried in combat. It was one of his carbines that he gifted to a friend. Now the question is ......does a M1carbine owned by AM warrant a ten thousand dollar price tag with provenance? I bet it does! Regards, Rick.
I was trying to find out about George D McIvor's DFC and can't find him? Not sure where he was from?
There was something else, or maybe it was this rifle, that came up a few years ago as belonging to Audie Murphy, anyone else recall what it was?
I think it is legit. I read about the incident somewhere, years ago. I remember that I read Audie Murphy gave a friend one of his M1carbines during the Watts riots. Apparently Audie owned several, as he really liked the carbines that had served him well in Europe.
Good old friction tape on those mags - I couldn't ever get it stick to anything that well. - Bob
First,
Thank Topaz for the link
Be nice if this is true,
We do know AM was heavy in the horses......... I know that feeling
Being a carbine you just can't help but fast glance and see...
The crack under the stocks right rail
Brass pin in the hand guard
The trigger housing looking like it's gonna fall out from under the stock
Frt sight pin backing out to the right
Red sealed primer pockets!!! Corrosive ??
Hey and Bob USGI
Friction tape still works great on my hockey sticks ;-)
