A few weeks ago, I was talking to a man that was in the First Marine Division, he told me that they flew from Paris Island to Calif in the C-119, landed and were transported by bus to the ship. They were in a big rush when the war started

I belive the Navy / Marine designation for the Fairchild C-119 is R4Q, the larger engined model the R4Q-2. (C-119F)
