    M1 Garand Sniper ?

    Dear Collectors,

a friend sent me the pictures of an M1icon Garand Sniper.
What do you think about ?
Is this an original Sniper rifle or a possibile fake ?
On the left side of the stock there is a DoD ...

Thank you anticipately for your help.

It has a Springfield Armory Inc. commercial receiver so it's not an original US Issue rifle.

Well I think all will agree that it is not an original M1D. But I don't think it was built as a "fake" to fool anyone. The M84 scope looks like it may be original. Others with knowledge on the scopes and base will have to comment on this. It depends on what someone wants. If they are just interested in a facsimile of an M1D for something like WW2 reinacting, or just to shoot, and not a collectable, it could be worth the asking price or the price paid. Especially if the scope is original.

The M84 scope looks correct to me, but the photos don't show much of it. It has rust & wear, so it would not bring top Euro.

No collector would be fooled by the rifle. We would charitably call it a "replica".
