Post Book Reviews by scrmblerkari .....

With thanks to member scrmblerkari, an interesting pair of book reviews have been added to the Technical Articles for Milsurp Collectors and Re-loaders (click here).

"The Unknown Soldier" by Vaino Linna (click here)

This is a remarkable book. Written shortly after the end of WWII, it has been widely translated, and been adapted as a stage play, an opera and a film, "Tuntematon Sotilas", (available on DVD w/English & Swedishicon subtitles on eBay.). Linna worked on this book off and on through the war years, but did not finish it until 1954.

"Talvisota", ("The Winter War") by Antti Tuuri" (click here)

This well-known Finnishicon novel about the Winter War follows the fortunes of the 23rd Infantry Regiment, fighting on the Taipale River, the northeastern flank of the Mannerheim Line on the Karelian Isthmus. This protected the city of Viipuri, the strategic objective of the Russianicon invasion, and was essentially the gateway to Finland.
