What's the story on Small Trap Buttplates

I have read several references and discussions over the years about the small trap buttplates used on early Springfield 1903s. There is contradictory information. are they ground down Kragicon buttplates, or manufactured by SA, or both. Any ideas? --TIA

I read somewhere they were Kragicon butt plates.
I wouldn't think that SA would not make them, as the fit for the oiler would be to tight????
And apparently no body really cares about this topic, and really I am only responding because no topic should be ignored!
