    Mas 36/51 with loose forestock

    Hi Guys,
I recently purchasd a Mas 36/51 G series with import stamp but no refurbishment date in really good shape except for a slightly loose forestock. Everything I read said to remove the forestock, remove the tang, shim under it and re-install it and I did that except it still had some side to side movement. I took it apart again and noticed the end of the forestock that goes into the reciever has a milled boss or protrusion of wood that fits in the reciever. I measured the boss width with a caliper then measured the opening in the reciever and the boss was .010 of an inch smaller so I fashioned a paper shim .005 thick, glued it around the boss and carefully pivoted it into the reciever for a nice tight fit. No more side to side movement. I hope this helps somebody with the same problem. Thanks.
