reloading and paper patching for the 8mm Mauser

Hi,
I have a Yugo 8MM Mauser rifle i got at a local sporting goods store called Big 5. I was low on .323 bullets so I reloaded some .313 180 grain Hornady bullets using 42 grains of IMR 4895. I used sticky printer labels to "patch" the bullets up to approximately .323 and it seemed to work well. I had a flyer or two outta 20 rounds but it could have been my shooting. I was able to hit milk jugs at 70 yards pretty well. The paper patch bullets seemed to do as well as the .323 I loaded also, with about the same accuracy. Shooting free hand, standing.

Sounds like it's time for some serious bench testing. Y'all have at it!

Definatly needs more testing. I would have thought that the sticky labels would hinder accuracy. I know for black powder paper patched bullets people want the paper to fall away from the bullet after it leaves the barrel.

Well, the sticky printer label paper barely sticks to the bullet. one time around the .313 and cut the label with a razor knife and it fits snug in the sized .323 neck. It is easy. I will punch some holes in paper next time out and will post results here. by the way, Samco Global web site had bayonets to fit the Mauser at a good price. I got a used one that looks new enough to me for $30 plus S&H. came with a frog and shoulder strap and some cleaning stuff. no extra rod though.
