    Barrel Grease

    Hi just finished my stock restoration and thought I read something about having grease inside the barrel area. any help would be appreciated. thanks

    Auto parts store will have it. Get a nice lithium based wheel bearing grease. The research has already been done for you in the thread linked below:

    What is the commerical equivalent of XG-279?

    Here's a more "full bodied" thread along the same lines:

    But if you can find some of the old USGI Grease, Rifle as described by Brian Dickicon, it has a particularly thick consistency, and is generally a nice dark color...not that you will see it very often!
