    Question 1903 NRA Sporter?

I, like everyone else that sees this forum, like old stuff, and I am old to match. Maybe I can help someone with my areas of interest, and I certainly need answers at times.

today, I am looking for some answers to identifying a likely 1903 NRA Sporter. First, the serial number is 1417329, barrel date SA 2-34. bolt marked N S, but no serial scribed on the body. I have examined it closely, but not disassembled it. I have pictures I could send as well . it is in excellent condition, and appears to be genuine. there is a rubber buttpad of early vintage ( Hawkins), but the stock is not cut. It also has an unusual Lyman globe sight such as those in Brophy's book it fits the sight base perfectly, and is like new. I see a lot of globe sights, and never seen one like this. I worked at Redfield in Denver in the early 70;s and we made one similar, but it was larger overall. any info on the SRS list concerning this serial no. would be appreciated.

Not listed. That serial number range is right at the end of Sporter production.

The late NRA Sporters had the serial number of the rifle on the bottom of the bolt. When the bolt is removed from the rifle the sn is concealed by the extractor. The extractor has to be rotated 90 degrees to see it. I believe a vast majority of the NRA Sporters are on the SRS Sales List but certainly some authentic ones are not listed.
