Thanks for the link. From there I lost about an hour going from one to the next. So much stuff out there to watch. Some good, some poorly done. That was a good'un.
These are very useful videos - lots of people have Carbines. With the relatively low velocity, even a softpoint (the one tested) does not open until 19 inches - but there is some energy transfer! And the accuracy is quite good at close range. Probably not the best choice for indoors, but we need to see some other loads. Love to see some 100 yard work. CC
Actually it penetrates to 19 inches, but expansion starts at about 4" from other studies I have seen, especially with the Remington JSP as opposed to the Federal in the video. That is evidenced by the larger permanent wound cavity of the JSP compared to FMJ starting at 4 inches, IIRC. Speer has a Gold Dot, and Hornady has Critical defense that only penetrates about 13-14", with great expansion. When I was a rangemaster at a PD, I looked at the 30 Carbine quite extensively.
