    Japanese Type 30 Bayonet Trainer?

Looking to find out some more information on this piece. I haven't come across any that have this number plate on the handle and I am also looking to find out what this piece might be worth. Thanks!

No expert here but it could be a training bayonet. Mostly because of the gouges (sp) taken out of the cutting edge and the number. Either that or the original owner used it to chop sushi on a rock!

Good find though. Prices vary by locale. In NW Pa, I would offer about $70.00 since it had the scabbard

The blade just shows signs of misuse. I saw enough of that in peactime army blades let alone something from that era. The plate I think is from a display like a museum to help identify from an accompanying list. Museums sometimes sell surplus items to get actual cashflow. Nothing too mysterious about this one I shouldn't think...Japanese Arisakaicon blade, see this site BAyonet Collection Presentation

If the bayonet is a training bayonet, both the spine and the edge (the edge normally sharpened the last 2/3) will be rounded hilt to tip. I can't make comment on the plate, that's the first one I've seen.
