Not at home, so could not check my books, but it is a beauty. Has a gorgeous Winchester stock and Type II band!

The stock is beautiful....it does look like the wood is split at the band end. I would take it for 20 bucks though!Regards, Rick.

It looks like someone finished the wood with Tru-Oil or some other synthetic.

I sure wish it was mine! I'm not home, so I can't check my books, but isn't that the correct range for a Type II band? While I would not strip the stock, it could easily be restored by stripping and RLO soaking.

I think your estimate of $1500 might be low.

I think you are right, probably $2,000 or more if it is as correct as I think.

I have pretty much the identical carbine

made a week or so before this one. In at least as good condition. Thought to be as manufactured by someone who knows.

Marty Black probably would be interested in that carbine as it appears to have been in a vise along the bottom of the receiver. He had one in the CC news letter that was made on the same day as mine but had the flip sight and had been marked with a vise and hand fitted at the front pin area.

WRA Carbine in the 5.4 range...

Nice carbine. I think it is correct. The first adjustable rear sites WRA used were stamped and marked "H" in a shield. Also, If there is any flat grey paint on the rear site, It is a WRA trait.
Although early for this rear site change, this carbine might have been sitting around and a stamped rear site was added before it went out.

See photos for Stamped rear site with some grey paint as used by WRA at about that time period.

    5.4s were Inland numbers

5.5 and 5.6 Winchesters. I know that in the 5.6 range the rear sights are a mix and carbines made on the same day can have a flip or type 3. The staking can usually determine if it came with the later sight or not. Heavy punch front and back in appropriate slots.
